Jordan has loved animals and the whole idea of hunting for a very long time. We had a wonderful neighbor who also loves to hunt. He tried getting all the kids in the neighborhood to put in for a hunt so he could take them. Well we got lucky and Jordan got drawn. He was so excited to go. As the hunt got closer Eldon Blair (our neighbor) found out he couldn't go so he asked Joe Denhalter to take Jordan. We love Joe! He has been a good friend to Jordan. So Jord was just fine with that.

Well bright and early, okay not bright, the sun wasn't even up, anyway at about 4:30 Friday morning the 17th of October they left. Anyone that lives around here knows my father-in-law and that he has these life sized plastic horses. Joe stopped and showed Jord on one of them where to shoot the elk.

Shea calls me at about 6:30 saying that they were following a herd of elk. By 7:00 I had a picture of a dead elk on my phone. I called and was so shocked that he had already shot one. I could hear Joe in the back ground saying "good job Jordan, that was awesome" I asked Shea if Jordan was excited and he said he thought Joe was more excited than Jord. I think Jordan was like okay now what? I think it went to fast for him.

He shot almost exactly where Joe told him to. I think Joe was a little surprised that Jordan didn't freak out the first time out hunting and that he was calm and just shot the dang thing.

Now I have to make jerky, do I know how to do that? Anyway it has been a fun adventure. We are making a rug out of the hide. I am thankful that Eldon and Joe helped out so much! I think Shea really enjoyed it to. Derek seemed even a little jealous. I might have to make a lot of jerky if they all start hunting and get drawn.

Yipee! I'm so glad to see your pictures! I've been waiting for them! WAY TO GO JORDAN! That really gets me all riled up! I think I would like to go with you next time okay Jord? (I won't shoot or anything, but I'd love to be a part of the CHASE, the STALKING and the KILL!) I hope your jerkey turns out good!
